Plan to be Outdoors

The entire Mt Penang Gardens consists of outdoor spaces. The Gardens' 8 hectares are open in all weather conditions and a visit can include extensive walking. Please plan your dress accordingly.


Mt Penang Gardens is accessible to people with disabilities, however, due to the Garden's naturally varied topography, portions of the Gardens may be inaccessible. Please refer to the Garden Map.

Open: 9:30am - 4:30pm daily

Closed: Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day, Good Friday and special event days.

Events may cause early closing of Garden areas. Due to events on site, the Gardens will be closed during the days of  Saturday 24 November 2018, Saturday 8 December 2018, 8 - 20 February 2019, 1 - 3 March 2019, 8 -10 March 2019. We apologise for the inconvenience. Please confirm hours on the day of your visit by calling (02) 4345 4450.


Entry to the Gardens is FREE for visitors of all ages. Charges apply to special events, school group, guided and non-guided tour groups, and parties.

  • Stay on paths whenever possible.
  • Deposit trash and recyclables in allocated bins.
  • Make use of the picnic tables.
  • Observe information and safety signs
  • Have an adult accompany children


  • Bring alcohol onto the premises.
  • Bring your pets. (Sight-enabling guide dogs/animals are permitted.)
  • Build fires.
  • Climb trees or rocks.
  • Engage in recreational sports, including fishing, swimming, or diving.
  • Feed animals or birds.
  • Take, damage or remove plants or dead plant material
  • Smoke.
  • Ride skateboards, roller skates, roller blades, bikes or use a scooter through the Gardens.
  • All flora and wildlife are protected including snakes, spiders, lizards and birds.
  • Entry costs apply for all events, parties, school excursions and tour groups. For bookings contact us on 4340 1002.
  • The Mt Penang Gardens has water features that are not fenced. Children must be under the supervision of a responsible adult at all times whilst visiting the gardens.
  • DO NOT damage or remove any plants or part of a plant from the place in which it is growing.
  • Call 4345 4450 to get permission prior to: Taking photos/videos for commercial use, the erection of canvas structures or awnings or using sound amplifying and lighting devices in the Gardens.
  • It is an express condition of your entry and your participation in the activities conducted by Mt Penang Gardens that you do hereby, for yourself, your heirs, executors, assigns and next-of-kin and each of them release, waive and discharge the Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation, its officers, directors, agents and employees of and from all liability, claims or demands for all injuries, losses, damages of any kind or nature to your person or property or to that of any minor under your supervision, whilst on the property of Mt Penang Parklands.
